Governor Joseph Appoints Patterson K. Shed as Chief of Staff


Governor Stevenson A. Joseph is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Patterson K. Shed as his new Chief of Staff, bringing extensive experience in high-level program management and government collaboration. Most recently, Mr. Shed served with the UNDP GEF Small Grants Programme as Senior Management Programme Officer, successfully restoring the program to full operational status and mobilizing significant funding to support sustainable community initiatives across the FSM.
Mr. Shed has held senior leadership roles throughout Micronesia, including Director of Strategic Partnerships for OneReef Micronesia and Regional Coordinator for the USAID Climate Ready Project. His work has included strengthening government and community partnerships, supporting national and regional policy development, and advancing climate resilience and conservation. Earlier in his career, he also led the Conservation Society of Pohnpei as Executive Director, driving impactful environmental management and global recognition for Pohnpei’s conservation efforts.
Additionally, Mr. Shed is a United States Army veteran, having served in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, where he earned the Combat Medical Badge for valor. His public service extends to elected and appointed leadership roles, including two terms in the Madolenihmw Municipal Legislature and serving as a member of the Board of Land Trustees for the Administration of Public Lands. Governor Joseph welcomes Mr. Shed to his administration and looks forward to working together in service to the people of Pohnpei.
