Weno, Chuuk – Madam Lieutenant Governor Herolyn S. Movick, as Head of Delegation, led Pohnpei State’s official delegation to the 10th Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) National Women’s Conference held in Weno, Chuuk, from September 27 to October 4, 2025.

Held biennially, the National Women’s Conference serves as a vital platform to discuss challenges, opportunities, and solutions concerning women across the FSM. Each conference is guided by a central theme; this year’s theme, “KIEKI”—a Chuukese word symbolizing strength, unity, resilience, and cultural richness—underscored the collective commitment to building an inclusive and equitable society across all generations.
The event brought together participants from every sector of FSM society, including government leaders (executive, legislative, and judiciary branches), non-governmental organizations, traditional leaders, youth groups, veterans, disability advocates, faith-based organizations, development partners, diplomatic missions, and regional agencies. The conference also welcomed international representation, including Ms. Jayne Flores, Director of the Bureau of Women’s Affairs of Guam, whose participation highlighted regional solidarity and support.
Through dialogue, collaboration, and joint planning, the conference provided space to understand pressing issues, strategize sustainable solutions, and amplify diverse voices. Key focus areas included:
Empowering Women through Culture
Women’s Economic Empowerment, Education, Training, and Decision-Making
Women’s Health and Addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
Women and Climate Change
Governor Stevenson A. Joseph and Lt. Governor Herolyn S. Movick extend their deepest appreciation to the Honorable Governor of Chuuk, Alexander R. Narruhn, the leadership of Chuuk State, and the people of Chuuk for their warm hospitality throughout the week-long conference.
Pohnpei State further acknowledges the FSM National Government, Women’s Councils, development partners, and stakeholders for their commitment to the success of this 10th FSM Women’s Conference. Their collective efforts ensured an impactful program, advancing strategies and action plans that will guide progress over the next two years.
Pohnpei is honored to have been selected as the host of the 2027 FSM National Women’s Conference and looks forward to continuing joint collaboration in support of women’s empowerment and leadership.
