Dekehtik, Pohnpei: November 19, 2025 – Acting Governor Herolyn S. Movick delivered opening and closing remarks at this year’s Joint Committee Meeting (JCM), hosted by Pohnpei State. The JCM, held twice annually, brings together representatives of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and the United States to address matters under Title 3 of the Compact of Free Association, with a focus on Defense and Security.
In her opening remarks, Acting Governor Movick welcomed delegates on behalf of Governor Stevenson A. Joseph and the People of Pohnpei, highlighting the honor of hosting this important gathering. She emphasized Pohnpei’s commitment to supporting productive dialogue between the FSM and the United States, noting the significance of the JCM as a forum for transparency, cooperation, and shared responsibility.
Acting Governor Movick also called for a moment of respect for the late Honorable Lorin S. Robert, former Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, whose decades of service strengthened FSM diplomacy and foreign relations. She extended condolences to his family and the National Government, acknowledging his lasting impact on the nation.
With dignitaries from the United States Department of War and representatives from FSM’s National and State Governments in attendance, the Acting Governor reaffirmed Pohnpei’s appreciation for the longstanding partnership between the FSM and the United States, particularly in supporting regional peace, stability, and resilience.
In her closing remarks, Acting Governor Movick expressed deep gratitude to all partners and participants, particularly the U.S. agencies and programs that have supported Pohnpei and the FSM over the years. She acknowledged the contributions of:

Acting Governor Movick concluded the meeting by thanking participants for their dedication and reaffirming Pohnpei’s commitment to continued collaboration: “May we move forward together with purpose, unity, and goodwill. Kalahngan, and safe travels to all.”
